From The Couch – Football Prepping For West Virginia, Basketball Wins Opener, Ayoka Lee Shines

It is a busy time in K-State athletics with the football team coming down the home stretch and both the men’s and women’s basketball programs starting their seasons. Here’s a recap of what’s going on this week in Manhattan…. “Well yeah, we absolutely need to move on, but I’m happy for those seniors that came back or the seniors that are deciding what they’re going to do that they know that on their last go round, they’re going to get…

From The Couch – A Comfortable Win For These “Young Guys”

A good win in game one of the Big 12 tournament tonight for K-State, beating TCU 71-50.  Nijel Pack led the Wildcats with 23 points, making five three-point baskets.  Mike McGuirl added 17 points. Stuff from Joe’s storage room – “Hold The Mayo!”

I tend to be a pack rat, especially when it comes to K-State stuff.  I’ve been cleaning out my storage room the last couple of weeks and found this old newspaper from 2008.  It was the first time K-State made the NCAA tournament since 1993 and the team was led by future NBA players Michael Beasley and Bill Walker.  They drew USC, led by OJ Mayo, in the first round.  OJ Mayo was considering going to K-State before committing…
