From The Couch – Sugar Bowl Odds And Ends

From The Couch – Sugar Bowl Odds And Ends

We are officially 24 hours away from the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Two powerhouses are going head to head. K-State and Alabama! Here’s what the coaches, players, and others are saying going into the game…

JM: I was not aware that Alabama has over twice the enrollment of K-State. Interesting.

JM: As per usual, K-State fans are showing up in droves in New Orleans. Would love to see Cat fans outnumber Bama fans at the game.

JM: Two former defensive backs going head to head! And how about that mirror image of the two coaches?

JM: Both teams are going “all in” to win this game, which is great to see.

JM: This is a fun video to see. The “kids” always have fun at these bowl games and doing some charity work in the process is always good.

JM: Nick Saban has had quite a few press conferences in the last couple of weeks and rarely mentions his opponent nor any of their players by name. He comes across to me as mostly arrogant and condescending, but this was a nice complement of Deuce Vaughn. I think.

JM: Eli Huggins is the most underrated K-State player we’ve seen in a long time. He has been great for the Wildcats and replacing him will be very difficult.

JM: Watch this video again five minutes prior to kickoff tomorrow to help yourself get hyped.

JM: I’ll take 146 yards and two touchdowns from Mr. Vaughn tomorrow.

JM: Coulda, shoulda, woulda, but wouldn’t you like to have that Tulane game and either the first TCU game or Texas games back right now? These Wildcats could have been in the playoff.

JM: This is very true. K-State will have their hands full tomorrow.

JM: I think we’ll see Adrian Martinez on the field quite a bit in this game, but not necessarily at the quarterback position. The more weapons K-State can get on the field, the better.

If K-State can beat Alabama tomorrow, a case could be made that it would be the best win in the history of the program. It’s gonna be a lot of fun to watch and I can’t wait!

If you haven’t already, check out Reggie Blackwell, Kevin Kietzman, and myself previewing the big game.

  1. I was just thinking this morning about whether a win over Bama tomorrow would be the “biggest win” in school history. I think for most fans it would be.
As a fan I put a premium on conference championships. After the anguish of 1998, the 2003 spanking of “the greatest team in college football history” will always be the biggest win in program history. Until we win the big one that is.
