K-State Sports: Balancing Hope and Expectations for 2025

Happy New Year! Overall, 2024 was a successful calendar year for K-State Sports. The football team finished 9-4 and won the Rate Bowl, the men’s basketball team made the NIT, the women’s basketball team made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament, and the baseball team made the NCAA super regional round. From The Couch – Wildcats Are Rate Bowl “Champions”

Does anyone else find it odd that the winners of these bowl games are dubbed “champions?” I guess it is technically true since they won the game, but the word “champion” is usually reserved for a world or conference champion in a sport. I’m getting too old to compete in the “feats of strength” portion of Festivus, but I’ve got…

What’s Wrong With College Basketball And Can It Be Fixed?

What’s Wrong With College Basketball And Can It Be Fixed?

Can college sports be fixed or has the ship already hit the iceberg and there is no saving it? That is a question I ask myself almost every day. More and more of my friends and family have given up following and being fans of their favorite college team. The reasons they give are many. I recently asked followers on my social media pages for feedback about how they feel about college sports to see if they are experiencing the…
