From The Couch – The Latest News In K-State Sports

Another men’s basketball loss, women’s basketball’s loses its star player, some football recruiting news, and an ex-K-State quarterback wins the national championship. Let’s get into it!
BREAKING: Ohio State transfer OT George Fitzpatrick has signed with Kansas State, @PeteNakos_ reports. https://t.co/kSYG7dZ8sR pic.twitter.com/8ItJNXAQs8
— Transfer Portal (@TransferPortal_) January 23, 2025
JM: A native of Englewood, Colorado, Fitzpatrick ranked as the number 167 overall player and number 15 offensive tackle in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports rankings. He was recruited by Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida, and Michigan out of high school. He played in nine games last season as a reserve offensive lineman and will have two years of eligibility remaining. This appears like a pretty good get for the K-State offensive line, which has a lot of questions heading into the 2025 season.
Iβm sure this was already posted on here but man what a cool answer from @whoward_ about his time at K-State

JM: Were you rooting for Will Howard to lead Ohio State to the national championship? I didn’t have a strong feeling one way or another, but I’m happy for Will and glad he had some good things to say about K-State.

JM: The 7-11/1-6 K-State men’s basketball team returns to Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday to play a ranked West Virginia squad. West Virginia has been up and down. They beat number two Iowa State last Saturday, but followed that up with a loss to Arizona State on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers are led by senior guard Javon Small, who averages 19.5 points per game. K-State has played better as of late, but they haven’t won a game since December 30th.
Jerome Tang says Scott Drew came into the K-State locker room and talked to the Wildcats after tonight's game. He offered the Wildcats encouragement that they can still turn the season around.

JM: Can K-State turn their season around? Tang seems to believe…

βHe told them the time we started the conference 2-8, and everybody had given up on us.

JM: While nothing is impossible, the Big 12 is a gauntlet this season and they have a lot of improvement to make before they’re ready to win a bunch of games in a row in this league. They’ve gone almost a month without a win. They’ve got six weeks left to get a string of wins on the board.
Scott Drew will unquestionably get a statue in front of Foster Pavilion.
— Gary Fatterson (Baylor Basketball back?) (@garyfattersonBU) January 23, 2025
Jerome Tang should have a statue right next to Coach Drew.
He took similar risks Drew took coming to Waco in 2003. They built a basketball power together. Build Tang a statue. pic.twitter.com/1zkWfBpWuz
JM: Baylor fans still hold Jerome Tang in high regard. At least this one does.
K-State's Ayoka Lee is out indefinitely with a fractured bone https://t.co/VUmY30dzfz
— KSN News Wichita (@KSNNews) January 21, 2025
JM: Yet another blow to the spectacular, yet injury-prone, career of Ayoka Lee. It looks like she may be back by the post-season, but this is a huge hit to K-State’s chances for a championship.

JM: So K-State offered a kid named “Boobie Feaster?” Let the jokes commence. This five-star receiver in the class of 2027 has over 50 offers, so don’t hold your breath that he’ll end up in Manhattan.
