From The Couch – Dylan Edwards To K-State/K-Staters To The NFL/Basketball Recruiting Update
What a weekend for K-State sports fans. Three football Wildcats were selected in the NFL draft, it has been reported that running back Dylan Edwards is (finally) coming to K-State, and Jerome Tang nabbed a sharpshooter and a former McDonald’s All-American. Here’s the scoop….
JM: I talked to someone close to the Edwards family last year when Dylan Edwards was trying to make a final decision between Colorado and K-State. He was very torn, and ultimately decided on Colorado. My buddy said at the time “if he goes to Colorado, I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually transfers to K-State.” How prophetic. Edwards is a great addition to K-State’s backfield and provides the offense with the speed to break any run for a touchdown. The Wildcats have missed having a threat like this since Deuce Vaughn went to the NFL. This is a huge addition.
JM: It was a surprise to me when tight end Ben Sinnott was selected before Cooper Beebe in this year’s NFL draft. Sinnott went in the second round as the 53rd overall pick to the Washington Commanders. Here is video of Sinnott taking the call from Washington….
JM: Sinnott received instant praise from former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III….
JM: I was hoping the Chiefs or Packers would pick Sinnott, as I believe he will end up being one of the steals of the 2024 draft. The Beebe household was very pleased to see Sinnott picked…
JM: Even though Cooper Beebe was the second Wildcat selected, he didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called in the 3rd round at pick 73….
JM: If that doesn’t get you choked up, you may want to check your pulse. Here’s another angle….
JM: “Thrilled” and “Ecstatic” don’t even come close to describing how Beebe felt about going to the Cowboys to join back up with his former running back Deuce Vaughn….
JM: Here is video of the call from the Cowboys war room. Look how thrilled the Cowboys coaching staff is to be able to get a player the caliber of Cooper Beebe so late in the draft….
JM: Wow. Cooper recorded a video thanking K-State fans. He is all class. I will be rooting for him. I have a feeling he will do great in the NFL. The entire Beebe family is a perfect representation of what the “K-State family” means to all of us.
JM: Offensive lineman KT Levinson was the third, and final, Wildcat selected in the draft, going to the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round, pick 254. Here he is receiving the call from the Rams…
JM: Levinson called his K-State offensive line coach Conor Riley, currently K-State’s offensive coordinator, to give him the news. Check out Riley’s reaction…
JM: I love that social media allows people to share all of these reactions with the masses. Great stuff.
JM: Jerome Tang received a commitment from Villanova transfer guard Brendan Hausen. Hausen, a sophomore, shot 39.2 percent from three-point range last season, but was a bench player, averaging 17.6 minutes a game and 6.2 points per game. He was dubbed the “Amarillo Assassin” in high school. Hyperbolic Jerome Tang said of Hausen, “But he is more than just a shooter; he is a weapon.” We will see.
JM: Fall was a McDonald’s All-American rated as the number 29 player overall by 247Sports in the class of 2023. The four-star forward only played in nine games as a freshman at Arkansas. Perhaps a change of scenery will be beneficial for Fall. When I heard “former McDonald’s All-American,” I was initially excited, but after looking into this a bit more, Fall seems like a project. Regardless, K-State needed a big man and they got one.
