From The Couch – K-State Basketball Is Busy In the Transfer Portal

Jerome Tang and his K-State basketball staff are very busy working the transfer portal. Some talented players are considering the Wildcats. Let’s dive right into it…

JM: Mitchell was a five-star player ranked as the number 13 player in the country coming out of high school in 2022. He played at Sunrise Christian in Wichita.

JM: That’s two pretty high profile X accounts saying that Mitchell wants to come to K-State. “Not so fast” says KSO’s Derek Young….

JM: This is pretty weird. I looked into it a little bit and it appears that Mitchell told 247Sports that he is interested in going to K-State, but has failed to notify the coaching staff of that fact.

Here are some highlights of Mitchell…

JM: Mitchell averaged 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for Duke last season.

JM: Jones is in Manhattan this weekend visiting Tang and staff. CJ Jones was a three-star player coming out of high school, but I’ll take anyone that can shoot threes at a 38 percent rate. Just don’t tell me he’s the “best shooter in America,” please.

Here is the highlight reel of Jones…

JM: Miller was a four-star player coming out of high school and was rated as the number 49 player in the class of 2022. Here is Miller’s highlight reel. As you’ll see, he’s got three-point ability and he’s 6’11”.

JM: Ballo is from Mali and was a four-star player in the class of 2019. He was the number 66 player in that class according to 247Sports. He has one year of eligibility remaining (Covid year). Ballo averaged 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds a game last season. His highlight tape looks pretty darn good..

It is going to be an interesting couple of weeks on the basketball front waiting to see who Jerome Tang can get to commit to the Wildcats!
