From The Couch – Tang Wabashes Again After Victory Against Florida
Does anyone else feel like they are watching an inspirational Hollywood blockbuster movie while following this K-State men’s basketball team? In another spectacular performance, K-State whupped Florida 64 to 50 in the Big 12/SEC challenge yesterday. Jerome Tang was Wabashing with the students again after the game. Here are some quotes, video, and highlights from the game…
JM: David N’Guessan returned for K-State and had nine points and a rebound. K-State was led in scoring by Nae’Qwan Tomlin with 22 points. Marquis Nowell added 16 and Keyontae Johnson had 15. N’Guessan’s presence alone may have been enough to give the Wildcats the rebounding edge, as they outrebounded Florida 49 to 36 in the game. Speaking of N’Guessan, he had a great bucket early in the game to help set the tone….
JM: Marquis Nowell continued with his highlight reel plays. He is playing at an elite level right now.
JM: “That’s in his range.” Yes. It is.
JM: K-State got out to an early lead in this one and never looked back. Florida went on a small run at the beginning of the second half, but never really challenged K-State after that.
JM: Keyontae Johnson, facing his former teammates, played great once again with a double/double (15 points and 11 rebounds).
JM: Ish Massoud has been playing better of late. He had five points and six rebounds in the game.
JM: I thought Johnson was close to getting a technical for hanging on the rim, but alas, he didn’t!
JM: The Octagon of Doom is back! And it’s glorious to see!
JM: Everyone should watch this feature story about Keyontae Johnson. He’s been through a lot, and it makes watching his success that much more enjoyable.
JM: Yes, give him the key to the city.
JM: Someone caught Keyontae Johnson doing the Wabash on the bench. These kids, and their coaches, sure are having a lot of fun.
JM: Jerome Tang has a unique camaraderie with his team. It might just take them to heights never seen by a K-State basketball team.
JM: A bit of football news to end. Will Howard’s brother, a huge 6’7″, 305 pound offensive tackle, committed to K-State. This is a “big” commitment in more ways than one!
Up next for K-State basketball is a game Tuesday night against Kansas in Lawrence. Can K-State sweep the Jayhawks? I wouldn’t doubt this team.
