From The Couch – Jerome Tang And His Staff Are Getting To Work

Jerome Tang and his new coaching staff are not wasting any time getting to work on the recruiting trail. While the announcement of Tang’s staff has not yet been released by the University, it’s been reported that Texas assistant head coach Ulric Maligi will join Tang as his associate head coach. Maligi is widely considered as one of the best recruiters in the country and has worked for Texas coach Chris Beard both at Texas Tech and Texas. Also rumored to join Tang’s staff are North Texas assistant coach Jareem Dowling and Alcorn State associate head coach Marco Borne. Dowling has deep AAU ties, coaching with former NBA coach Sam Mitchell and former K-State great Mike Evans. The staff has spoken with quite a few recruits already and has offered at least a few high-caliber players. Here’s the latest scoop…

JM: Dowling let the cat out of the bag with this Instagram post showing the three coaches flying to Manhattan. This was posted Thursday night and last night there was a lot of buzz on Twitter about recruits that have received offers from K-State. This is happening fast, just like Jerome Tang said in his introductory press conference.

JM: RJ Jones is a four-star shooting guard and the number 43 rated player in the class of 2023. While this is just an offer and not a commitment, it’s nice to see that he had a “great” conversation with the staff.

JM: Shortly after RJ Jones posted on Twitter last night, this was posted by Alex Karamanos, who is a national high school basketball analyst and scout.

JM: Clark is a five-star point guard who recently de-committed from Kentucky. Ironically, Brad Underwood is the favorite to land him at Illinois…..

JM: At least Tang contacted Clark, but it may be too late to land him. Tand and his staff are shooting for the moon. Hope they are successful in landing a couple of these guys.

JM: Coach Tang is very active on social media and shared these pictures of dinner with the team last night. It’s good to see Nijel Pack in one of the pictures!

It’s pretty exciting to see all of this recruiting news, even though it’s all conjecture at this point. It’s gonna be fun to follow all of this though.
