From The Couch – Another K-State National Championship And Some Odds And Ends

K-State’s crop judging team won another national championship, their 19th championship in the last 24 years. That’s quite a run. In other news, K-State has some All-American and All-Big 12 selections to talk about and I found a few other tidbits from the week….

JM: The crops team completed the Fall 2022 season by placing first at the Kansas City American Royal Collegiate Crops Contest and second at the Chicago Collegiate Crops Contest in November. The results earned the team a split with Iowa State for the national championship. Congratulations to the crop judging team once again!

JM: Deuce Vaughn made the first AND second teams!? And to nobody’s surprise, Felix Anudike-Uzomah was the Big 12 conference defensive player of the year. It wasn’t the only accolade for Felix this week…

JM: Felix was also selected to the Walter Camp All-American second team.

JM: Deuce Vaughn made the first team list according to The Athletic. There are strong rumors going around that there has been enough NIL money raised to entice Vaughn, Anudike-Uzomah, and Cooper Beebe to come back to K-State to try to #runitback next season. How awesome would that be? I’ll believe it when I see it.

JM: Congratulations to Marquis Nowell for earning his degree from the “best school on earth.” How about topping it off with an NCAA tournament appearance?

JM: The Warners have been huge supporters of K-State and their son Kade. They are both active on social media and, from what I can tell, have attended almost every game. the only exception may be when Kurt’s work with the NFL has gotten in the way. It’s great to see him celebrate like we all did last Saturday. He’s one proud papa.

Don’t forget that K-State basketball plays Incarnate Word at 2:00 today at home. It will (hopefully) be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
