K-State beat Bowling Green 52-0 yesterday in what proved to be quite a mismatch.  Bowling Green has played K-State twice in their history and hasn’t scored a point, also losing 58-0 in 1997.  Not sure they’ll bother to schedule another match-up with the Cats anytime soon. K-State’s next opponent is Bowling Green.  Here’s 10 fun facts I found about the University and football program. 1)  Bowling Green’s sports teams are named the Falcons.  Bowling Green’s mascots are Freddie and Frieda Falcon.  I found an interesting write-up about the history of the school nickname.  They used to be called “The Normals” before it was “The Falcons.” Until 1927, Bowling Green State University was referred to as Bowling Green Normal College, for its teacher training curriculum.
