From The Couch – TWIKS Notes 4/22/23

What is a “TWIKS Note?” It’s a play off of the old “This Week In Baseball “TWIB Notes.” This Week In K-State news. Here we go….

JM: Castillo became K-State’s first commitment of the 2024 basketball recruiting class. He is a five-star combo guard ranked as the number 20 overall player in the country according to 247Sports. Think Jerome Tang is happy with just one five-star player? Think again….

JM: Who is Cooper Flagg? He’s a five-star class of 2025 power forward that is ranked as the number two player in that class by 247Sports. Jerome Tang continues to make waves on the recruiting trail.

JM: All Flagg did was put up 52 points in his first AAU game of the season. Yowza.

JM: In sad news, “Mr. K-State” Ernie Barrett passed away at the age of 93. He is a true legend. I wrote a column about him almost two years ago: https://kstatejoe.com/from-the-couch-ernie-barrett/. It is worth revisiting it to read the stories. He will be missed.

JM: Great post by Coach Tang.

JM: My buddy Ben put this video together as a “Stand Up for the Champions” 2022 Redux. It’s worth the watch. Here is the YouTube link.

JM: <Joe Googles “Ekow Boye Doe 40 time>. He ran a 4.27 40-yard dash at the NFL pro day. He’s gotta be on some NFL team’s radar with a 40 time like that.

JM: Perry is a senior who entered the transfer portal from North Texas and would be eligible to play this fall.

“The 5-foot-11, 182-pound Perry averaged 17.3 points on 43.7% from the field and 41.3% from three, 3.4 rebounds and two assists per game for the Mean Green in 2022-23. He earned the Conference USA Player of the Year award for his regular season play and Most Outstanding Player honors as a part of North Texas’ championship run in the National Invitation Tournament.”..Zach Goodall, SI.com, 4/18/2023

JM: Yes, please.

JM: Parker is a four-star class of 2025 running back from Saint Louis. Keep an eye on this recruitment.

JM: Did anyone catch the Tex Winter/K-State cameo on this week’s episode of Ted Lasso? Apparently coach Lasso is going to introduce the triangle offense to his struggling soccer team. I thought it was a nice touch to an otherwise uninteresting episode!
