From The Couch – K-State National Champions Again, Some Recruiting Notes, And Basketball Playing In Brew City Battle?

Ho-hum, another national championship for K-State. Hey, we’ll take it, right? Also, some football and basketball recruiting updates, and I saw a rumor that the basketball team might play Wisconsin in Milwaukee this fall at American Family Field, formerly Miller Park, where the Milwaukee Brewers play? Interesting stuff. Here we go….

JM: Congratulations to the K-State Wind Power team on winning the national championship. I have to claim naivete on this one. I did not know that a competition such as this existed. Anyway, add another trophy to the case!

JM: Kienholz is a class of 2023 quarterback from Pierre, South Dakota. Rivals and 247Sports have him rated as a three-star player. He is being recruited by Illinois and Minnesota, among others. Collin Klien never stops his search for future K-State quarterbacks.

JM: K-State made David N’Guessan’s top eight, but I don’t have much confidence K-State is very high on the list with both Gonzaga and his current school, Virginia Tech, on the list. But he’s good at keepin’ ’em guessin’. Thanks, I’ll be here all week!

JM: Castillo is a combo guard from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and is rated as the number 14 player overall in the class of 2024. His high school coach is former K-State basketball player Clent Stewart. This is a recruitment to keep an eye on.

JM: Elmarko Jackson is a four-star class of 2023 point guard from Richland, New Jersey, and is a top-100 player according to 247Sports. He’s being recruited by Jareem Dowling.

JM: Saw this basketball tidbit on Twitter and haven’t seen it reported elsewhere. American Family Field is a retractable roof stadium, so this could work for a basketball game. Who knows if this will happen, but it would be interesting to see.

Thanks for reading. Hope you have a great weekend!
