From The Couch – K-State Is National Champions In…Sales!?
“The Kansas State University Sales Team is the 2021 Collegiate World Cup of Sales university champion, winning the International Collegiate Sales Competition. The competition was hosted virtually by Florida State University, Nov. 9-13.”…www.k-state.edu, November 19th, 2021
JM: I just saw this story yesterday and found it intriguing. First of all, I never knew there was a “Collegiate World Cup of Sales.” It’s an interesting concept. K-State won the international championship in sales. Maybe the football team and basketball team should hire one of these kids as head recruiting coordinator. Hey, it’s just an idea.
“Kansas State’s Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Cooper Beebe named to AP All-Big 12 football team”…Yahoo.com, December 9th, 2021
JM: You’re going to hear a lot from Felix and Cooper in the next couple of years. Deuce Vaughn, Russ Yeast, and Malik Knowles (as a returner) were second-team selections.
“Obviously, it hurts. I thought we played well at times and then at other times we’ve got to get a little more mature
and not try to win the game by ourselves.”…Bruce Weber, December 8, 2021
JM: K-State basketball lost 64-63 to Marquette on Wednesday night. They were competitive despite not having leading scorer Nijel Pack for the game.
“That’s the other thing, not only him (Davion Bradford) but everyone, how many layups did we miss again? Probably in the first half if you make your layups, you’re up six, eight points.”…Bruce Weber, December 8, 2021
JM: Bruce, maybe it’s time to hire one of those international champion salespeople to help you recruit players that can make layups? I don’t know. Just a thought.
“We ran a play for me to slip a ball screen then come off a flare. I should’ve done a better job of seeing how much
time was left but that possession we were in the huddle talking about that he’s going to miss this free throw and
let’s try and get another basket. I would have to watch the film, I just tried to get to the basket, maybe I could have
kicked it out or something. I was just trying to draw a foul or get a layup.”…Ismael Massoud, December 9, 2021
JM: I don’t blame Massoud for this. He did get to the basket and shot what would normally be a high percentage shot, but it was a great block by Marquette. If you really break down the play, he could have kicked the ball out to someone, but there’s nobody on the floor that you’d consider to be “automatic” in that situation. This game could have gone either way, but in the end, Marquette made enough plays to win it.
K-State fell to 5-3 with the loss. Up next for the Wildcats is a game against Green Bay on Sunday at 4:00. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
