From The Couch – Jerome Tang On Jon Rothstein’s Podcast

Jerome Tang was on Jon Rothstein’s “College Hoops Today” podcast today and, needless to say, Tang didn’t disappoint. Here are a couple of his quotes of note…

“Everyone I run into, they are full of passion and energy and excitement for the place. There’s purple everywhere. They say they put purple salt on the roads during wintertime.”…Jerome Tang, April 12, 2022

JM: Tang seems very impressed with Manhattan and the K-State fan base. And the winter road crews who put the purple salt on the roads. Do they really do that? I’m sure they make a purple salt. I think I’ve seen it before, anyway.

“That’s the plan. Final Four. National Championship. That’s the goal. There’s a plan of putting the pieces in place to get there. Obviously, as a coach, we want to get there faster. Sooner rather than later, but we’re not going to skip steps. We’re going to put it in place and build a program that doesn’t just go one time, but that can go multiple times. We want it to be a consistent, winning program. NCAA tournaments, deep runs in the tournament are expected around here and I’m excited to get started.”…Jerome Tang, April 12, 2022

JM: Rothstein asked Tang about the last two K-State head coaches, Frank Martin and Bruce Weber, making the Elite 8 and how he felt about that. Well, the Elite 8 is not going to be good enough for Tang. I’ve never heard a K-State coach talk about winning a national championship. I’m sure they all wanted to and strived towards it, but I don’t recall anyone wearing it on their sleeve as Tang does. I love that.
