Five Tidbits About UAlbany
K-State basketball plays UAlbany at 7:00 tonight in Bramlage Coliseum. Here are some tidbits I found about UAlbany.
1.) UAlbany’s official name is “The University of Albany, State University of New York.” They play in the America East Conference. Stony Brook and Vermont are the two favorites to win the America East this season.
2.) UAlbany is coached by Dwayne Killings. This is his first year on the job. He played in college at UMass (1999-2001) and Hampton (2001-2003). He was hired at UAlbany after serving as associate head coach at Marquette from 2018-2021. He’s had assistant coaching stints with the Charlotte Hornets, Boston University, Temple, and Connecticut prior to joining the staff at Marquette.
3.) UAlbany is 1-5 on the season. They lost their first five games, including an 86-61 loss to Kentucky on November 22nd. They won their last game against Eastern Illinois last Wednesday, 64-62.
4) UAlbany’s mascot is Damien, the Great Dane…
5.) UAlbany forward De’Vondre Perry, a transfer from Temple, is their best player. He’s a good rebounder and career 33% three-point shooter over four seasons at Temple. He’s currently averaging 12.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. He leads the team in scoring, rebounds, and minutes played. Keep an eye on him. He wears number two.
K-State shouldn’t have too much trouble in this game. UAlbany is ranked number 306 in the current KenPom ratings. The Wildcats are ranked number 82.
